Question 1

Do I need to install .NET first?

Accepted Answer

No. The app is self-contained: the .NET runtime and the Windows App SDK travel inside the package.

Question 2

Do I need ViGEmBus?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for the main thing. The virtual pad goes through ViGEmBus, a free open-source driver that installs once. Without it the app still reads and tunes the controller, but no game will see a different pad.

Question 3

Why is there no Xbox One virtual controller?

Accepted Answer

ViGEmBus only implements Xbox 360 and DualShock 4 targets. Windows games read Xbox pads through XInput, and the virtual Xbox 360 pad is exactly what XInput exposes.

Question 4

My controller works, but the game sees two of them.

Accepted Answer

The game is reading the physical controller and the virtual one at once. Closing Steam, or turning off Steam's Desktop Configuration and per-game controller support for that pad, resolves the most common case.

Question 5

Is anything sent over the internet?

Accepted Answer

No. The app makes no network requests. Profiles, settings and logs stay in your local user folder.

Question 6

What does it cost?

Accepted Answer

Nothing. It is a free download on the Microsoft Store, with no ads, no in-app purchases and no account.
